This project, organized in partnership with Love Cambodia, went beyond mere construction. Students actively raised funds for the toilets through a student-led mini carnival, fostering teamwork, entrepreneurship, and a spirit of service. The experience wasn’t just about building toilets; it was about building community and empowering students to become changemakers.
Two-Way Learning: Sharing Knowledge and Skills
The project also facilitated a beautiful exchange of knowledge and skills. SCIA students shared their English language skills with village children, while the villagers, in turn, passed on their practical knowledge, like making palm sugar. Inspiring Futures: Fostering Aspirations Through Career Exploration
SCIA’s commitment to the community extends beyond service projects. Inspired by the KidZania concept, they hosted a fun and educational event for 80 local students, exposing them to different careers and educational resources. This event aimed to ignite their aspirations and provide them with the tools and guidance they need to achieve future success.
Ms. Ivy Toh, Associate Director, explains the event’s significance, stating, “We wanted to create a unique learning experience that connected potential careers to students’ interests. By providing educational guidance, we empower students to take control of their futures.”
