The Philippine International School of Phnom Penh (PISPP) has officially announced that there will be no classes on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, in observance of Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk’s birthday—a recognized public holiday across Cambodia. The school will resume its normal operations on Thursday, June 19.
Honoring a Beloved National Figure
The special day pays tribute to Her Majesty Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, the revered mother of King Norodom Sihamoni, and a figure of national unity and maternal leadership. By aligning with national holidays, PISPP reinforces cultural awareness and encourages students to understand and appreciate the country in which they live and study.
A Gentle Reminder to Rest and Reflect
In their announcement, PISPP encouraged students to use the day not only to rest but also to reflect on their studies or spend time with family. This short break offers a meaningful pause during the midweek to recharge and reengage with academic and personal goals.
The school’s commitment to honoring local customs and national holidays reflects its values of respect, responsibility, and cultural inclusion within an international learning environment.
