In many rural areas of Cambodia, access to books and structured career guidance remains a challenge. Recognizing this critical gap, Sipar Cambodia, with the support of the Kinal Foundation, has taken a transformative step at Chakryavong High School—establishing a fully equipped library and launching a hands-on career forum to empower students.
The newly built library, created in collaboration with school librarians and student volunteers, is more than just a collection of books. It is a vibrant space filled with resources, reading corners, and a dedicated area for career exploration. Students now have a safe, resource-rich environment where they can read, learn, and plan for their futures.
A Learning Hub in the Heart of Chakryavong High School
The new library at Chakryavong High School includes shelves stocked with engaging reading materials in both Khmer and foreign languages, comfortable seating areas, and digital resources. The library design encourages self-directed learning, offering students the opportunity to explore academic interests and improve literacy skills.
The setup also features a dedicated career guidance corner—a unique addition intended to address the lack of structured career support in rural Cambodian schools. This space provides access to career materials, industry knowledge, and mentorship, empowering students to think about their goals early and realistically.
Career Forum: Connecting Dreams with Real Opportunities
Following the library launch, students at Chakryavong participated in an interactive Career Forum. For many, it was their first opportunity to see modern technologies and meet professionals in person. Presenters introduced careers in electricity, 3D printing, elevator systems, and more, combining hands-on demonstrations with storytelling.
The forum was more than an educational session—it was an inspiration session. Students asked insightful questions, discussed their dreams, and left with practical ideas about how to move forward in life. This type of event is crucial for bridging the knowledge gap between rural youth and the rapidly evolving job market in Cambodia.
Sipar’s Mission: Reaching the Most Underserved
Sipar Cambodia’s work at Chakryavong High School is a powerful example of how educational access can change lives. By setting up libraries and creating engaging forums, Sipar promotes youth empowerment across provinces that are often overlooked.
This initiative is part of a broader mission: ensuring that young Cambodians—regardless of where they live—can dream, learn, and grow. With community collaboration and international partnerships, Sipar continues to expand opportunities for students across the country.
