On June 10, 2025, the First Cambodian-American International School (FICAS) marked a milestone in international cooperation and cultural education by hosting a delegation from Guizhou Minzu University of Nationalities (China). This important event was part of the Cambodia-China Cultural Exchange Program, themed “Thousands of Outstanding Students Study Abroad Plan.”
Bridging Borders Through Education and Culture
This second study visit emphasized the growing collaboration between Cambodia and China in the field of education. As part of the Cambodia-ASEAN-China Education Cooperation Association and Study in China Center initiative, the program brought together educators and students to engage in meaningful dialogue, explore academic opportunities, and foster mutual cultural understanding.
Through performances, workshops, and school tours, both parties gained insights into each other’s educational values, daily routines, and aspirations. For Cambodian students, such exchanges provide exposure to diverse learning environments and inspire new global perspectives.
Empowering Students for a Global Future
According to FICAS, the goal of such programs is not only to build institutional partnerships but also to encourage students to become open-minded, confident communicators in a multicultural world. Events like this allow students to improve their language skills, explore opportunities to study abroad, and develop friendships that transcend national boundaries.
Representatives in attendance included Mr. Bunly Samrith, CEO of the First Cambodian-American International School; Dr. Sor Rithy, President of the Cambodia-ASEAN-China Education Cooperation Association; and Mr. Lim Wutty, Founder of Step Forward School. Their support reinforces the program’s mission to provide meaningful global experiences for students.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties Through Education
The program is fully backed by the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education and Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports. This cross-national collaboration represents a growing commitment to educational diplomacy—where partnerships foster peace, innovation, and shared progress.
As part of ongoing efforts, more student visits, teacher exchanges, and joint academic projects are planned, with the ultimate goal of launching further bilateral education programs between the two countries. FICAS continues to lead in this direction by providing platforms for students to grow as global citizens.
