Invictus International School Phnom Penh is turning the spotlight on experiential learning. This June, the school launched a unique international learning journey, sending its Secondary students to Singapore to explore the world of performing arts. The initiative reflects Invictus’s commitment to providing meaningful, real-world experiences beyond the classroom.

An International Stage for Learning

On 11 June 2025, students embarked on an educational theatre excursion to Singapore. The itinerary includes attending two major performances: “Murder in the Waiting Room” by the Singapore Youth Theatre and “The Phantom of the Opera” at the iconic Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands. These shows offer students the opportunity to engage with professional-level theatrical productions—enhancing their understanding of drama, storytelling, stage design, and cultural expression.

The trip isn’t just entertainment—it’s carefully aligned with Invictus’s curriculum goals in English literature, drama, and creative arts. Observing world-class performances in a live setting encourages critical thinking, emotional awareness, and a deeper appreciation for the performing arts.

From Phnom Penh to the World

This excursion is more than a school trip—it’s a life experience. For many students, it’s their first exposure to international theatre in a global city. From navigating an airport to exploring Singapore’s arts and cultural scene, the journey provides invaluable opportunities to develop independence, teamwork, and cultural sensitivity.

Such programs are core to Invictus’s vision of nurturing global citizens. By incorporating international travel into education, the school empowers students with broader perspectives and transferable life skills.

Why Theatre Matters in Education

Theatre plays a vital role in education. It fosters self-expression, public speaking skills, collaboration, and empathy—traits that are increasingly valued in both academic and professional contexts. At Invictus, the performing arts are not just electives—they’re part of a well-rounded, future-focused education.

Invictus International School Phnom Penh’s latest initiative underscores its dedication to immersive, high-quality learning. Whether in the classroom or on a stage in Singapore, students are encouraged to explore, question, and grow.
